How credits are used
Every AI operation is metered in tokens. You choose the AI model per project; better models use more credits per million tokens.
| Model | Credits / 1M tokens | Quality | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Testing | 1 | 52% | Quick trial runs |
| Basic | 14 | 78% | General code explanation, junior developers |
| Premium | 24 | 90% | Senior developers and system architects |
| Master | 42 | 94% | Best available quality |
Thanks to extensive source-code preparation we have cut the tokens required by around 80%. 10 MB of source code needs about 1.5 million tokens on Basic and about 3 million on Premium and Master.
Example: 10 MB of source code
Basic
≈ 1.5 M tokens → 21 credits
≈ €21 excl. VAT
Premium
≈ 3 M tokens → 72 credits
≈ €72 excl. VAT
Master
≈ 3 M tokens → 126 credits
≈ €126 excl. VAT
Estimates only. Actual usage depends on the code base and the documentation sections you generate.
What costs credits — and what is free
- Analysis runs — imports and re-analyses. Credits are deducted as the AI writes your documentation, so the cost follows the size of the project.
- Codebase analysis is optional; it explains every file and therefore costs the most.
- An incremental re-analysis bills only the missing work. A complete re-analysis bills the whole project again.
- Refreshing a tracked repository with no new commits is skipped and costs nothing.
- Free: reading, editing, approving, sharing, downloading, and browsing demo projects.
Every step checks your balance first. If credits run out mid-run, the run stops; top up and re-analyse incrementally — the work already done is kept. Credits Usage in the app lists every top-up and every run with its cost.
Buying credits
- Pick 10, 50, 100, 150 or 200 credits, then in steps of 100 up to 1,000.
- Pay in a secure Paddle checkout — card, PayPal and local methods depending on your country. Your card details never reach Dev-Doc.
- Taxes for your country are shown before you pay. Companies click “Add VAT number” so the invoice is issued in the company’s name.
- Credits are added as soon as the payment is confirmed. A checkout you close before paying can be resumed; nothing is charged.

Model differences
Basic uses an AI provider with above-average quality at a reasonable price — good enough for general code explanation and documentation for junior developers.
Premium uses the provider with the highest quality. Choose it if the results should also help senior developers and system architects.
Master is the best model on the market.
Premium and Master deliver significantly better results in:
- Depth of risk analysis — how well bugs and risks are identified
- Bug identification — catching actual code defects
- Edge-case detection — finding “hidden” bugs
- Risk assessment — evaluating stability risks such as memory exhaustion
- Insight — better architectural context
Language support
Our AI models support all programming languages. We currently see very good results for:
C/C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Ruby, Kotlin, Swift, Scala, PHP, Go, Rust, COBOL, Visual Basic, Objective-C, Elixir, Fortran, Ada, Pascal, Delphi
